1. PROJECT DELIVERY APPROACH

In delivering our services, we would like to partner with our clients in ensuring that whilst we deliver on the project we also impart and transfer critical skills. Having services more than 50 clients on various projects and assignments, we have realised that having a formidable approach for delivery of these is very critical:

1.1. UNDERSTANDING CLIENTS REQUIREMENTS

Our clients are important to our business, and as such our approach is to partner with them. Central to the partnership approach is to understand their business objectives as well as requirements on specific assignments as projects. From the inception of the project we engage on a diligent planning process and we afford our clients an opportunity to outline their requirements and review possible solutions we have proposed. On reaching an agreement, we are good to proceed with subsequent steps on the project.

1.2. FORMULATE PROJECT PLAN

At Sobethu Consulting we believe that having a comprehensive plan on what, how and when to get things done in delivering a particular project or assignment is the foundation to delivering any project well. We always on formal project management principles and adopt world best practices in this regard. Our project delivery approach, processes and methodologies are aligned to our client’s operational processes to ensure synergistic alignment.

1.3. DEDICATED PROJECT TEAM

We believe that all role players need to be considered in formulating a project team. As part of each project or assignment we provide a list of consultants, their perceived roles in the project and brief resume. As much as we have indicated the core project team from SOBETHU, we are always keen to incorporate client’s representatives as part of the core project team. This will assist in skills transfer and ensuring continuity and adequate post project support.

1.4. PROJECT REPORTING AND CLOSURE

We have embraced an approach of regular reporting and provision of updates to all stakeholders during the execution of an assignment and projects. The following are the elements that should be considered for reporting during the project execution:

  • Monthly progress review meetings with the provincially established task team with consultants
  • Provision monthly written updates to the Project Manager

The question is what information and data does the client and or the Project Steering Committee require to know during the project execution? Even though we have our own project report template, we would like to ascertain what information with the clients require on regular basis:

According to project management best practices even closure phase need to be planned. The key deliverable of this phase will include the compilation of the final report as well as presenting the report to the client representatives:

2. TRAINING DELIVERY METHODS

One of the important aspects of keeping learners interested is to adopt some learning delivery methods that will challenge them. There are various methods that we use to deliver our training interventions. These are various creative ways we would adopt in delivering on this assignment. We apply some of the following methodologies to our learning interventions and we will ensure that no two courses are the same boring old lectures. These methods are chosen depending on the nature of the module or a course being delivered as well as the level of targeted learners.

2.1.USE OF TRAINING VIDEO

Video has long been recognized as a valuable teaching medium because it can effectively convey to students an instructor’s visual clues, for example, gestures, posture and facial expressions that aid communication and comprehension. A combination of a number of experts on short video clips will certainly allow learners to get different context on the phenomenon being discussed.

2.2.BLENDED LEARNING METHODS

In delivering our learning and development interventions we have adopted a blended learning approach. Blended learning is the combination of instructor led training and online adaptive learning that offers the learner an optimal learning experience.

2.3.CASE STUDY METHODS

We adopt a case study based approach in rendering learning and development services to our clients. Case studies bring interesting, real-world situations into the classroom environment. The case study method creates a classroom in which students succeed not only by simply absorbing facts and theories, but also by exercising the skills of leadership and teamwork in the face of real problems. Under the skilful guidance of a facilitator, learners work together to analyze and synthesize conflicting data and points of view, to define and prioritize goals, to persuade and inspire others who think differently, and to make tough decisions with uncertain information.
